Geocache Description:

Suoraviivainen mysteerikätkö Liedossa. Straightforward mystery cache in Lieto.

Kätkön koordinaatit on koodattu allaolevaan DNA-sekvenssiin. Ylläolevat koordinaatit osoittavat hyvän parkkipaikan autolle. Tehtäväsi on kääntää eli transkriptoida sekvenssi mRNA:ksi ja edelleen transloida se aminohapoiksi. Ohessa olevat kodoni- ja koodiavaimet auttavat tässä.

Muista nämä säännöt:

- Emäsparit ovat adeniini-tymiini (A-T) ja guaniini-sytosiini (G-C). mRNA:ssa tymidiinin tilalla on urasiili (U).
- DNA- ja RNA-sekvenssit kirjoitetaan yleensä 5’-3’-suunnassa, jolloin siis 5’-pää on vasemmalla ja 3’-pää oikealla. Vastinjuoste (kuten myös transkriptoitava mRNA) on antiparalleelinen eli menee 3’-5’-suunnassa suhteessa alkuperäiseen juosteeseen (ks. kuva).
- mRNA:n sekvenssi transloidaan aminohapoiksi 5’-3’-suunnassa.
- mRNA:ssa on kolme mahdollista lukukehystä. Vain yksi niistä on oikea eli sisältää aloitus (start)- ja lopetus(stop)kodonit.

Itse kätköpaikalla voi olla liukasta! GPS-yhteys voi olla heikko.

The coordinates of the cache are coded into the DNA-sequence below. The coordinates above point to a good parking place for your car. Your task is to transcribe the sequence to mRNA and further translate it to amino acids. The codon and code keys given will help you.

Remember these rules:

- Base pairs are adenine-thymine (A-T) and guanine-cytosine (G-C). In mRNA uracil (U) replaces thymine.
- DNA and RNA sequences are usually written in 5’-3’ direction which means that 5’ end is on the left and 3’ end on the right. Complementary strand (as well as transcribed mRNA) is antiparallel i.e. runs from 3’ to 5’ direction as compared to the original strand (see figure).
- Translation of mRNA is done in 5’-3’ direction.
- There are three possible reading frames in mRNA. Only one of them is the right one containing start and stop codons.

At the place of the cache there may be slippery! The GPS-coverage may be poor.
