Geocache Description:

Dan Patch(1897-1916)was a famous race horse. At one time he was owned by Buffalo sportsman M. E. Sturgis. He raced in the Buffalo area also. He was so fast that eventually he only ran against his own time record as other owners wouldn't race there horses against him. As he was a national celebrity, smoking and chewing tobacco, a washing machine and even a dance was named after him.

A photo of him was above the bar in the Leland House. I knew the bar in the Leland House as the 'Dan Patch Bar'.

The Leland House was a Springville Landmark, built in 1824. It was a hotel, restaurant, bar and at one time a bed & breakfast. It recently burned and was torn down.

To find this micro, you must first go to the coordinates listed above. There you will find a public place where you might find out more information about Dan Patch or the Leland House.

To figure out the cords for the final you will use the sign that tells you the name of the building and it's use.

A = The # of letters in the first 2 words minus 5
B = The # of letters in the 6th word
C = The # of words on the sign plus 1
D = The # of words on the sign
E = The # of words in the last line multiplied by 2

The final is near where the Leland House used to be. The hardest part of getting this cache, will be avoiding the muggles to the north.
