No - this is not an invitation to join the Hare Krishna cult. This is an actual cache placed somewhere at the Shades Mountain Plaza.
This is a camouflaged container filled with Original v1.0 versions of Handheld Navigational Devices (commonly known as Road Maps). These can help you regain your sense of direction in the event that you have lost it (your sense of direction, that is)
Due to some modifications that are being considered at the Plaza this has been placed in what seems to be a safe place away from any future construction. However, there are 4 ways to approach this one - each with its difficulty. On the three most direct ways you will encounter lots of briers and weeds. The fourth way is quick but will require wading boots and a hop up to ground level. The cache is slightly under cover once you get to it.
In the event that you need further directional assistance feel free to visit the cartographers across the parking lot. They are responsible for a large number of maps used around the country and have maps in stock to just about any area or situation you may need.
1/25/13 - lowering the terrain to 3 as the path to the container has gotten easier.
7/7/15 - After losing 3 ammo cans over the years I had to redesign this one. Apparently some locals like to party on this end of the parking lot and have repeatedly pilfered the cache. It is at the same location...just have to look a bit harder to see it. Due to size reduction of the main container the map selection will be very limited.
