Geocache Description:

If you are looking for a bit of adventure this makes a fine drive up into the Eldorado forest. All but the lowest of car should be ok if you drive carefully. I have been up the in a VW Cabriolet. The cache is at about 3850ft. It dose get some snow in the winter. But you can get up there almost all year long.

The closest you can get by road is to the gate just below the top of Slate Mt. Before you look for the cache walk on up to the top and find the footings from the old fire lookout. They took it down a few years ago with out even asking me first. I just went up there one day and it was gone. If you start your search from there, the going is a lot easier. On a clear day you can see for miles from up there. It’s a great place for a picnic if you are so inclined. It would be a great cache for kids but you will want to keep an eye on them. There are some steep slippery hillsides and an open valet toilet foundation full of water. Also stay well away from the antenna equipment that is up there. It’s all fenced off with warning signs so I shouldn’t have to tell you but keep off it. There is plenty of other fun to explore around the top of the hill. See if you can find the underground storeroom, and the old trash pile. The cache is a plastic pee sample jar to go with the loo. Once you get to the right spot it should be easy to find. There is plenty of trash so bring a bag for CITO. New Original Content: Logbook, Pencil, 2 Die Cast handguns.
