You can park on Greenwood Street, just West of 15/501 and 54. The trail is behind a large red livestock gate. Walk up the hill for about 1/6 mile, then bushwhack to the right about 400 feet. There are plenty of vines, rotting trees, ans spider webs. The cache is a cylindrical cocoa can stuffed with goodies.
Look up the hill at the mysterious Gimghoul Castle. Legend claims that artisans from France were hired to painstakingly cut the 1,300 tons of stones used to construct it in the 1920s. Gimghoul Castle is listed in the International Registry of Castles and the North Carolina Historical Society.
The cache contains:
- pen
- log pad
- lanyard
- pedometer
- wooden stamp of a horse
- thermometer magnet
- nail clippers
- 3 foreign coins
