Everyone has a favorite teacher. Mine was Mrs. Pederson. What a wonderful lady. She was my 4th grade teacher back at good 'ol Sugar Grove Elemenatary in Sugar Grove, Illinois.
We also had a janitor back at good 'Ol Sugar Grove Elementary, named Joe Beady. Mr. Beady had the scariest face that a little kid could ever imagine. True to his name, he had the beady eyes of a criminal.
You'd never want to look him in the eyes, it was said that his stare could kill in an instant. He was such an unkept individual, yellowish skin, long, stringy hair - just a scary man.
Anywho, one day, 'Ol Beady stopped coming to work. Rumors running through the 4th grade at the time, were that he took a job at another school up north somewhere. We were so happy that we never had to see Mr. Beady ever again.
It had been decades since I thought of Mr. Beady until one day several weeks ago. I was on this geocaching trip up in Minnesota. I came around a corner, looked into a big hollow log and there were beady eyes staring back at me - scary!!! Those eyes looked just like Mr. Beady's.
Chills ran up my spine. I never thought I'd see those eyes again. I never thought those eyes would haunt me - especially in my favorite pasttime, geocaching. But there, in that log....were those eyes...
Enjoy!!
