Geocache Description:

Just off the Blue Star Highway in North Port, Florida

This cache is the second of my Blue Star Highway caches. The first (Blue Star Reflections - GCWEZG) gave tribute to our fighting service personal. (An earlier cache, Remember our Vets - GCTC6W, could also be included in this series.) There will be at least one more in the Blue Star line.

This placement is proving to be a good location to pick up and/or exchange Travel Bugs. Being on Hwy 41, this is a good location for travels up and down the west coast of Florida. This cache has been around for several months now without any muggle problems. Should be safe.

A little about the Manatee and this area. Just up stream from the cache, is Warm Mineral Springs, a free flowing source of water for Salt Creek. The water is about 87 degrees at the head of the spring with the water in the stream being about 15 or more degrees warmer in winter then the Myakka River into which it flows. Up to 78 Manatees have been spotted in Salt Creek. Do a little research on Warm Mineral Springs and nearby Little Salt Spring if you are interested in archaeological material. Also study the interesting life of the endangered Manatee.

Getting to this cache can be just slightly difficult so take your time and be careful. Watch out for the occasional Muggle. If you have two or more on your team, post one in position to watch for muggles on bicycles or walking. Warn the other that a muggle is coming so they can hide in a "appropriate" place. Sign the log and replace/rebuild the cache as well or better then you found it. Make it fun for the next geocacher (and difficult for the Muggles).
