Geocache Description:

This short series of sandbass hides is about southern rock. That's where I'm from.

This one is about Stevie Ray Vaughan. A true master of blues and guitar artistry.

The Vaughan brothers. Stevie Ray and Jimmie were raised in north Texas, in the Dallas area. There and in Austin, they made the music that so many people love.

The Fabulous Thunderbirds. Double Trouble. They created excellence in blues and guitar. If you have never heard their music, you may want to visit your music store. Better still, visit Austin City Limits through PBS. They have some fantastic performances by the Vaughans, and I'm sure they would love to sell them to you.

They are top notch. World class.

I couldn't decide which of my favorite JRV songs I wanted to select for this cache. There's "Little Wing" (actually a cover of the Hendrix tune), "Empty Arms", and "Life By The Drop".

I decided on "Life By The Drop". It is a piece that is outstandingly performed by Stevie Ray. A great musical experience.

I leave you with the lyrics to "Life By The Drop", performed by Stevie Ray. These are the lyrics, but in the performance, it is all about the guitar. Hopefully you'll see it sometime. And of course, that will have to be a recording, because the man is gone from this world.

Hello there, my old friend,
Not so long ago it was 'till the end.
We played outside in the pouring rain,
On our way up the road we started over again.

You're living a dream, woah you on top,
My mind is achin', Lord it won't stop.
That's how it happens,
Living life by the drop.

Up and down that road in our worn out shoes,
Talking 'bout good things and singing the blues.
You went your way, I stayed behind,
We both knew it was just a matter of time.

You're living a dream, woah you on top,
My mind is achin', Lord it won't stop.
That's how it happens,
Living life by the drop.

No wasted time, we're alive today,
Churning up the past, there's no easier way.
Time's been between us, a means to an end,
God it's good to be here walking together my friend.

You're living a dream, woah you on top,
My mind is achin', Lord it won't stop.
That's how it happens,
Living life by the drop.
That's how it happens, living life by the drop.
That's how it happens, living life by the drop.
