Colorado's Last Rest Area
This cache is located
just inside the Pawnee National Grassland, south of Kimball, Ne.
(approx. 20 miles).
Colorado placed this
little wide spot on the road, (asphalt pull out to cache) about 30
yrs. ago. It has boasted a small shelter, a picnic table,
porta-potty and other amenities through these past years. Currently
it only has a large garbage can which remains mostly full. As it
might have been a good idea for a rest stop in a mostly desolate
section of road, it never really has any use except for an
occasional trucker in need of rest. No monuments, historical
markers, scenic overlook, or anything else that would entice people
to stop. So as it might have been a good idea, it was probably
doomed to it's present status from the very beginning.
So enjoy your visit to
the last rest area as you leave the state going north, or enjoy a
warm welcome to the first one you encounter coming into the state.
Not much to write home about. Enjoy your stay.
As usual hide as good or better.
