Plenty of parking here… but just set your parking brake when you stop. Looks can be deceiving regarding the slope.
As I was hunting for a nearby cache I remembered an incident that happened about ten or so years ago on this very spot.
It was Thanksgiving 1995 and a friend of mine had borrowed another friends truck to pick up some fixins’ for the big day. He stopped the truck here and forgot to put the parking brake on. If that wasn’t bad enough he also forgot to take the truck out of gear.
Yup, you guessed what happened next. It began to roll… backward. As it did so he chased it but could not really do anything but watch as his friends truck roll… and roll. Somehow it managed to miss everything but a small fragile newly planted tree about a football field down the slope from here. It came to a rest on that tree and by a miracle only bent the tree slightly and cracked the plastic license plate frame. That tree is still there and that truck was sold just last year after 150K miles.
I completely forgot about this story until I was looking for that nearby cache… good times.
