Geocache Description:

Welcome to the 9th cache by "Keeper of Time".

This cache is located close to a small country town that was originally settled as a sheep station in 1837. By the mid 1800’s it boasted 4 churches, 1 hospital, 2 schools, 2 banks, 17 hotels (now that’s serious drinking !!!), 3 mills, 2 breweries, a racecourse, town hall and plenty of shops.

The botanical gardens were established in the mid 1860’s and are one of the earliest regional botanical gardens in Australia. As you walk to GZ from the obvious parking area take a look at the historic fish hatchery and the many unique trees and shrubs. As you log the cache please look up at the nearby bluestone structure that is believed to be the finest example of this kind of construction in Australia and completed in 1860.

Once you have completed the find I would recommend adjourning to the nearby bakery for a latte or pie (yum).

The cache is a 1.2 litre Sistema container sympathetically hidden away from the main area of trees and in a typical geocaching manner. Please ensure that it is well hidden before you leave and I would ask that you help maintain the standard of the cache by placing quality swaps only. As always, be mindful of the local wildlife both good and bad.
