Separated Out Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

New York Admin: Groundspeak has been contacted by the president of the Hudson Mohawk Bird Club, Inc in regards to the caches in Rist Wildlife Sanctuary. They were unaware any geocaches were within Rist and asked that they all be removed. The President of HMBC states "as you may know, the Reist Sanctuary is a bird sanctuary for scientific and educational purposes. The Reist has been set aside to preserve habitat, to allow breeding birds proper environments and it is a place for ongoing biological studies. Geocaching would not be in alignment with these purposes. "

I am archiving all geocaches within Rist at their request. Please remove your cache at your earliest convenience.

Geocache Description:

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
”We didn't lie to you, folks. We told you we had living, breathing, monstrosities. You'll laugh at them, shudder at them, and yet, but for the accident of birth, you might be even as they are. They did not ask to be brought into the world, but into the world they came. Their code is a law unto themselves. Offend one, and you offend them all!”

~~1930's Tod Browning film Freaks~~

This one tips its hat to the freaks out there. The geocachers, the gamers, the nerds, the jocks, anybody thrown into some sort of clique or cliché. The other tip of the hat goes out to my favorite band, Marillion. The title of this cache is that of one of their songs from their 12th studio album, Anoraknophobia, (#14…Somewhere Else just came out this year!). If you had pre-ordered it, your name was included in the ‘credits’ of the deluxe edition. One of the albums prior to that asked for photos of their fans to be used on the album cover. Truly a band that exists for its fans, they continue to entertain, many years removed from their inception in the late 70’s.

”And now, folks, if you'll just step this way, you are about to witness the most amazing, the most astounding, living monstrosity of all time.”"

“Marillio-who?”

“Isn’t that the band that had a song entitled, “Kayleigh”? They’re still around?”

“What do they sound like?”

Freaks, anoraks, Marillios….all names of the fans. We too represent all of that. Why else would we share our honeymoon in England with our favorite band and over 2000 other freaks from all over the globe at a Marillion weekend?

To introduce or, is some cases, re-introduce people to our favorite band we have created yet another cdparker1 cache to entertain the mind and the soul. Find the cache, sign the log, and trade some items. First To Find can choose from some cd singles from Marillion or some compilations that we have put together.

This cache started out with the following Marillion inspired items:

  • Don’t Hurt Yourself cd single (blue/boy version)
  • Don’t Hurt Yourself enhanced cd single (red/girl version)
  • Between You and Me/Map of the World cd single
  • Chris’ Favorite Songs from the Past 10 albums + extra songs
  • Karen’s Favorite Songs from the Past 9 Albums

Find a better way of life…

”We accept her--one of us--gooble, gobble--we accept her--one of us--gooble, gobble…
You, dirty, slimy...FREAKS!... FREAKS!... FREAKS!...Get out of here
Get out! You heard her! Get out! “

Try to trade a sample of your favorite band's music here. Regular trades are okay as well. I will try to keep this one stocked with our favorites as cachers post the cd's being taken.

The sanctuary is open from Dawn 'till Dusk.
