HAPPY BIRTHDAY TRI-CITIES
GEOCACHERS!!!
This event marks the first birthday of the Tri-Cities
Geocachers. The Tri-Cities Geocachers was started by local cacher
DM "Papa Cache" flyer on March 24th, 2006 as an alternative to
other groups in and around the area. The groups started out with a
meager member level, having only 10 members within its first few
months of creation. The member level is now over 70 members, and
still growing.
The group has a website and a Yahoo group, both of which is used
to promote and manage the group. The Yahoo group was the first
start of the group, giving everyone a place to come and talk about
local geocaching. At first, the talk was slow to come. Only a few
posts here and there was all that we had. For a while, it didn't
appear that the group was going to make it. As you can tell, that
assumption was wrong. The website was created by TCG member
altosaxplayer in April of 2006, only a few days after the group
creation was official. The website is very simply laid out, using
almost all HTML (with a few pieces of JavaScript) and should work
with almost any browser. The website constantly undergoes changes
to make it look and handle better for the user.
Now about the event...
This event is going to be held at the Old Mill in Damascus, VA.
The event will be a dinner event, starting around 5 o'clock. Please
post a "will attend" so that we will have a good estimate of how
many we will need to make reservations for. We will be having some
coin trading and possibly a meeting, just depends. For now, plan on
just eating and having a good time with others. We will be eating
off of the menu; they have a ton of good dinners such as salads,
steaks, and pastas, something for everyone.
Caching after the event is probably going to be out of the
question because of dark. But, there is one cache nearby that is a
very intense night cache. A couple of us know how to do it so those
who want to can probably sweet talk someone (we prefer coins) into
helping. :)
Also at this event, we will be celebrating some K's of our group
members, Fluffy and Itchy (3K) and Konnarock Kid and Marge (1K)
