Big Doggy: Routine cache maintenance run in sector Q today. In seven years, I think this was muggled only once. The other MIAs were attributed to the cache container jammed further in to the hole. When I created this one I use the blue ? to designate it as an offset. Years later, the corrected designation was to classify it as a multi.
I walked through this area routinely when I worked in the French Quarter and spotted the niche one day. The hundred year old firehouse was a fine architectural example of the earlier firehouses and I was pleased to use geocaching to point it out. Firemen, who I generally hold in high esteem, were particularly happy to visit the spot.
Recently, someone filled the cache gap with mortar so this cache has gone the way of the old fire trucks. RIP little cache; it was fun while it lasted.
