A "John Masser Memorial" Geocache . . .
This classic Blue Mountains geocache was placed by the late Banksia777, and entails a pleasant walk in the Lawson area of the Blue Mountains. You'll enjoy both the stroll and the views. It's suitable for geofamily outings. But, as always, watch the geokids carefully while searching mountainous terrain.
This cache is hidden just below ‘Echo Bluff’ and above ‘Empire Pass’ -- a relatively easy stroll of roughly 1.4 kms one-way from the car park down Park Road. (It's a longer walk of 2.4 kms from Lawson Station to the lookout.)
Banksia777 writes, "You will pass by 'Fairy Falls' and then meander through a nice eucalypt forest. The terrain is quite safe until you get to the actual lookout area where there are cliffs, so keep an eye on the young ones around there."
The track ends at a large rocky area, and then you’ll see a smaller track going down to the lower level that has the nice views. Try out an echo or two!
The coordinates were taken directly above the cache, and it is well hidden, though in an obvious location.
Finally, Banksia777 cautions once again, "Please take care in getting down to the final location, minding loose rocks, etc."
