Geocache Description:

Beautiful Lake Iamonia Landing!

Lake Iamonia is a large, prairie lake north of Tallahassee, Florida. Pronounced exactly like the word, Ammonia, Lake Iamonia is named after a Seminole indian town, Hiamonee, which was once located on the banks of the nearby Ochlockonee River.

The lake is approximately 5,757 acres, 7 miles long, up to 2 miles wide, and has a maximum depth of 40 feet.

Massive areas of the lake are completely covered with lily pads and other aquatic plants. This provides amazing habitat for the fish and other wildlife that inhabit the lake and surrounding wetlands. The habitat of Lake Iamonia makes it one of the finest "natural" lakes in Florida.

In addition to the scenic views here, the area near this cache offers an improved boat ramp and picnic tables. There is also a "fish camp" that sells fishing supplies, bait, refreshments, food, and has restrooms.

Please be sure to re-hide this cache well.  Thank you!
