Update April 2026: Cache has been adopted by Elliotts4 and is now a medium-sized lock-and-lock. This is a lovely moderate hike in an area with few caches, so we wanted to keep this one going. There are some significant ditches in the road up, so if the gate is open, we would suggest only attempting the drive in a 4WD vehicle. Trees have grown up since the original placement, so the view is now more peaceful than spectacular, but we recommend the journey and hope others will enjoy it.
Original Description: Cache is accessible from George Washington National Forest Fire Road #391 (Woodcliff Rd) in the McClung area of Bath County. Note that this portion of GWNF has limited public access, so use the provided parking coordinates waypoint (N38 02.776 W079 38.706). Perhaps you will be in luck and find the gate open, saving you the first mile of hiking/biking. Cache is somewhat off the beaten path, but the view is spectacular. Bring your camera & binoculars! Look for the trail.
