The park is located in Goldvein, VA, and this area contained
over 100 registered gold mines, around the mid-1800's, although
this area is little know in history for gold mining.
The Franklin Mine excavated a 300 foot shaft to find one vein of
gold.

Try to visit the site while the museum is open. There is so much
great information available, and the curator is very knowledgeable
and very interesting. There is a club meeting, open to the public,
the second Saturday of the month, I believe, at 10:00 am.
