Here is what Wikipedia has to say on prime numbers:
“In mathematics, a prime number (or a prime) is a natural number
that has exactly two (distinct) natural number divisors. It follows
that these two divisors are 1 and the prime number itself. There
exists an infinitude of prime numbers, as demonstrated by Euclid in
about 300 B.C.. The property of being a prime is called primality,
and the word prime is also used as an adjective. Since 2 is the
only even prime number, the term odd prime refers to all prime
numbers greater than 2………….. The study of prime numbers is part of
number theory, the branch of mathematics which encompasses the
study of natural numbers. Prime numbers have been the subject of
intense research, yet some fundamental questions, such as the
Riemann hypothesis and the Goldbach conjecture, have been
unresolved for more than a century. The problem of modelling the
distribution of prime numbers is a popular subject of investigation
for number theorists: when looking at individual numbers, the
primes seem to be randomly distributed, but the "global"
distribution of primes follows well-defined laws.”
I find some prime numbers more interesting than others. For
instance, 43, 17, 31, and 2 are prime numbers that appear more
frequently than others in the area I live in, but only because I’m
into geocaching. In areas of the west the numbers 71, 59, and 61
might not be as common. 2 is the only even prime number and that
occurs everywhere. Although prime numbers are considered
pseudo-random, if you map them sometimes you may notice interesting
patterns emerge. To make this cache simple I have restricted the
prime numbers I’m using to either 1 or 2 digits. This is a total of
25 prime numbers.
The problems with ‘seeing’ patterns is that things can really occur
randomly in nature but our minds have a tendency, because of the
way they are biologically hard-wired, to ‘see’ order in chaos, even
when there is none. For instance, nothing that I have written or
quoted so far is incorrect but it has absolutely nothing to do with
finding this cache, I just thought it was interesting. Also the
listed coordinates are not the cache coordinates at all. You will
have to solve the puzzle to get the coordinates. Some other key
information you need is on this cache page. And now for some truly
random thoughts…..
-You are what you are and you ain't what you ain't. So listen up
Buster, and listen up good
