Geocache Description:

You will find the turnoff to the concentration camp +- 1 km from the almost town of Norvalspont on the R58 at the following co-ordinates S30 38.296 E025 27.542 follow the road for about 1 km and turn left and follow the road to the monument.The cache is about 5km from the Gariep dam wall

One of the concentration camps where 27 000 Boer woman and children died during captivity while their husbands and sons fought the British soldiers during the Second War of Independence from 1899 to 1902. For more information on the "concentration camps" go to www.boer.co.za/boerwar/hellkamp.htm

Small note on cache maintenance: Please take note that although the owner of this cache stays some distance from the cache, special arrangements have been made to maintain the cache, should it be necessary. Fellow cachers, friends and family in the vicinity will do the honours. Cache placements in South Africa are minimal related to the number of cachers playing the treasure hunt game especially in the Garden Route area. We will be placing at least 30 caches during this December 2006 holiday season – so watch this space.
