Geocache Description:

The site can be reached by road. From I-77 South exit at Caldwell and go West on St Rt 78. Go past the town of Sharon. It is off to the right of the highway just before you reach Olive Green.(town)

This is one of three crash sites for the giant air ship the USS Shenandoah a Helium filled Navy vessel. It broke up in a violent storm on 3 Sep 1925. The Vessel was 680ft 2 in long and 93ft 2in tall This # 3 site is the last piece to come down to earth. It was the nose section. The nose section was approximately 200 feet long. There were a lot of crew people on the section all survived in this section. The Tail section over 600 feet long came down in Shenandoah #2 site. The Gondolla or Control Cabin crashed to the earth at Shenandoah Site #1. 14 People including the Commander Lt Commander Zachary Lansdowne lost their lives in this crash.
The cache is a micro with only a log. You must bring your own pencel. You must put the log in the cap before you reinstall. You can view some pictures and some history if you go to this webb site. (visit link)
