Geocache Description:

Inside old fort, 3 km gravelroad to site but Easy terrain and easy find, 1072 Altitude
TAKE THE ROAD FROM HOPETOWN TOWARDS ORANJE. 12 KM OUT YOU WILL SEE SOME MAZE SILOS ON YOUR RIGHT. JUST OVER THE BRIDGE AHEAD OF YOU, TAKE AN IMMEDIATE LEFT. THIS ROAD WILL TAKE YOU STRAIGHT TO THE CACHE:

Hunting this cache will lead you to a historic site, a stone fort, which was used to guard a supply route by train during the Anglo Boer War that took place 11 Oct 1899 to 31 May 1902. Behind the fort you will find a board with more interesting detailed info during this era.

Even though this fort is now situated on farmland next to the Orange River, it is a public site. Permission has been granted by the farm owner to access as well.

The cache is a small plastic container wrapped in a black plastic bag. It contains a logbook, pen, nail clippers, padlock, keyrings and Harry a toy soldier to guard the cache
