Well, we had a two-staged
multi-cache in this rather nice park. Unfortunately, the
second-stage disappeared, but our first stage, which stumped a
significant number of geocachers both novice and veteran, remained.
We have replaced it with a traditional cache instead.
Riley Park & Annex is a community park located in Delphi. It
is named for the Hoosier poet James Whitcomb Riley, who would often
visit friends in the area and would give readings of his work at
the local theatre. The land for the park was donated by E.W. Bowen
and his wife in 1930. A suspension bridge crosses the nearby Deer
Creek from the park. Built in 2004, it has replaced at least three
other bridges that were destroyed by flooding. In 2006, a boardwalk
along the river was built.
The cache is a microcache of unrevealed origin. Be prepared to
look for a while if you've not found the multi-cache before.
Another Darned Cacher, who originally picked the spot for the
first stage, is a devious hider of microcaches. The first-to-find
gets the first opportunity to move the new Unite
for Diabetes travel bug that we've place there.
Happy hunting!
