What's That!? (a Christmas present) Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

ohjoy!: I loved the reason why we placed this cache and had a huge amount of fun rewriting the Night Before Christmas. However, I no longer want to drive this far to maintain a cache, so I picked it up yesterday/Monday. I'm glad no one tried to find it today!

Geocache Description:

with apologies to Clement Clarke Moore...

‘Twas two days before Christmas, when all through the city
No cachers were stirring, now ain’t that a pity;

The presents were wrapped, the trees full of lights,
It was all they could do to wait two more nights.

Three cachers sat waiting with nothing to do,
While visions of caches into their minds and heads flew.

They found a few caches, some new and some old,
And made no complaints, though the weather was cold.

Back in the car, they were driving away,
To hunt for more caches on a day full of play.

They suddenly gasped and spoke as if one,
What’s that? What’s that structure? Now that looks like fun.

The brakes were applied; the doors were thrown wide,
An object like that put a stop to the ride.

They walked to the object and climbed right inside,
And knew in a twinkling a cache they must hide.

So back to the car with its trunk full of gear,
They found a container that would fit just right here.

A log was stuffed in it; a hiding spot found,
Now what could be better? A round in a round.

The readings were taken midst smiles and grins,
They hide it, you find it, and everyone wins.

Cachers are smart, they’re certainly not fools,
They’ll know to retrieve it they’ll need to find tools.

Now dash away! dash away! dash away all!
They were hearing another cache giving a call.

So up to the mountains the cachers they flew,
To find some more caches, some old and some new.

Their eyes – yes they twinkled! their smiles were merry!
Cold cheeks were like roses, each nose like a cherry!

The day was successful and soon it was dark,
It was time to head home after leaving their mark.

They spoke not a word, but went straight to the car,
Warm homes were a-waiting; they had to go far.

They sprang in the hybrid and headed for home,
Asking, “What are we called and who’ll write a poem?”

And yes, they exclaimed, ere they drove out of sight,
“Happy Christmas to all, and to all a goodnight.”
