WARNING! A Rattlesnake has been sighted near Stage Two!
11/12/23: Please be EXTREMELY CAREFUL with the delicate final stage. The legs break off easily but can be reattached easily. The log is in the "body" which SNAPS open AND SHUT. Please make sure it snaps shut securely.
12/24-25/08: "Adjusted" second and third stages. They are now in different places and bear little resemblance to what they were. Terrain rating is based pretty much on the last stage only; first two stages are approx. 1-star terrain (THAT MAY BE IMPORTANT TO KNOW!)
1/20/09: "Re-adjusted" second stage. It's now much easier than it was. No hint is necessary for it. The unadjusted distance and bearing from stage 1 should put you right on it. Basically, if you find stage 1, you should have absolutely no problem finding stage 2. NOTE: some remnants of the old "second stages" are still in place. Don't let them fool you! I think I'll leave them there, as decoys

"I forgot to tell you," said Sanchesca Panza to Richard Kancache with an uneasy familiarity and languid intensity. "Welcome back to Mississippi."
Richard stared at her with a confused expression, even more confused than the expression he usually bore. "Thank you," he said, "but I've never been to Mississippi before. This is my first time."
"There's a first time for everything, Richard. But when you come to Mississippi, it's like coming home." They passed a sign on the highway that read, "Mississippi: It's Like Coming Home."
"This welcome center coming up," continued Sanchesca, "pull back in there. Let's return to it."
"Uh...but I've never been there before..."
"PLEASE, Richard...if you feel anything at all for me...if you care even in the slightest...return to this next cache. Come home with me...to it."
"You live in the Welcome Center?"
"No...but I do work here. I...welcome people. Home. So, I feel as if I truly live here."
"Interesting," said Richard with disinterest. "Can't say much for the privacy."
"But the coffee's good. And, like so many of the places we‘ve returned to together, there‘s a cache."
"A catch? What‘s the catch?"
Sanchesca rolled her eyes into the parking spot in front of the welcome center. "No, a cache, not a catch. A multicache. Do you remember the old Welcome to Mississippi cache when you were here before?"
"But…" Richard stopped suddenly at the glare from Sanchesca.
“Then you should have no trouble with this one. The first stage is right over there. You'll find the position for the second stage, which in turn will direct you to the third and final stage, a somewhat atypical container. You go right ahead. I‘m going to turn down the bedcovers for the truck drivers.”
Sanchesca left Richard standing, holding his GPSr and looking lost and helpless. “Well,” said Richard to himself and the welcome center maintenance man, “it‘s good to be back.”
