WHAT? |
What better way to celebrate the summer than with a potluck!
We're also planning fun and games! Among the evening's planned
activities, a prize drawing (please feel free to bring a geocaching
related item to contribute to the kitty) and GEOCACHING FEUD
(like the famous gameshow Family Feud, but with geocachers!!)
We have reserved the fellowship hall at the First Congregational
Church in South Hadley, MA where we are members. We made the
reservation with permission from TPTB (the trustees that is). Join
us for an evening of fun, food, socializing, food, catching up with
friends, food, travel bug and coin trading, food, and games. Oh,
and did I mention the food?? Dinner will be done potluck-style, so
break out your aprons and prepare your signature famous dish (or
dishes if you're so inclined)! When you post your "will
attend" log, please say what you'll be bringing and how many folks
will be coming - that way we can make sure we have enough
food!
The fellowship hall is a very large space (former gymnasium in a
past life), with plenty of room for the kids to run and play (yes,
indoors) while the adults socialize. There are some games and toys
already in the church available for the kids to use. We will also
try to whip up some geocaching related crafty-type things for the
kids to work on while there (ideas welcome). There will also be the
customary travel bug and coin table as well. |

This year's potluck will feature GEOCACHING
FEUD, hosted by your's truly. The questions will be
geocaching related and, yes indeed, one hundred people will be
surveyed. Two teams of six geocachers each will compete for the
grand prize ... a fully stocked ammo can for each of member of the
winning team! Players will be drawn at random (6 gals and 6 guys).
To be eligible for the player drawing, you must bring a geocaching
related item (less than $10 please) to be donated to the kitty for
the general prize drawing which will take place after Geocaching
Feud. (I hope that's clear ... There are two drawings ... one for
Geocaching Feud which you have to bring an item for the drawing to
get a ticket for, and a second drawing for prizes after
Geocaching Feud which everybody who attends the event is eligible
for.)
The Geocaching Feud game will be run just like the game show
with two teams competing in rounds to earn points by guessing the
"Top X responses" to various geocaching questions asked to 100
geocachers (using the Groundspeak Forums
 to get my 100 responses). There will
even be a lightning round at the end in which the team with the
most points will select two representatives to participate in. And
here's the catch ... if the winning team earns 200 points in the
lightning round ... The Win The Grand Prize (stocked ammo
cans) ... otherwise, if they don't, they don't win
the grand prize and the ammo cans go into the general kitty for the
post game prize drawing. Woo hoo! Should be
fun. |
