Geocache Description:

A very pleasant day – about 5-6 hours – on the E. side of McLeodganj. Start early!
Not many folks head this way, as the river must be crossed about mid-way lower down… no roads. But the rewards of great views and quiet hillside villages are well worth the effort.

The start is critical... as you must descend into the river bottom and cross over to the opposite hillside.

At the lower “Y’ of Temple Rd. and Jogibara Rd… down the steps@
N 32^ 13.9900’ E 076^ 19.662’

Then along the dirt road a short way…
There are various options down… some easy….some not.

Start the easy way down@
N 32^ 14.071’ E 076^ 19.737’

Get to a small creek to cross@
N 32^ 14.125’ E 076^ 19.830’

Keep traversing left/down… it’ll be obvious what is easiest… but don’t expect a “trail”.
Aim for the shady bottom@
N 32^ 14.010’ E 076^ 20.006’

Then up the opposite bank to a nice rest@
N 32^ 13.986’ E 076^ 19.940’

The way up the ridge will be obvious… then there will be two higher bowls to traverse… expect close to two hours of climbing/traversing

MANY options… high/low… on a good trail, or goat trail, or no trail… but your target is the ShivaShrine (visible from many points) on the farthest ridge.

I won’t restrict you with the myriad of reference points going up… (as were desirable for my other “HimachalHillHigh” cache)… go as your desire and energy dictate… just keep going UP.

If you can get to Shiva@
N 32^ 13.975’ E 076^ 20.862’
Then your final point is very close.

N 32^ 14.006’ E 076^ 20.834’

(Now) there is a "small" cache box… pix shows location…
Layback and enjoy a pleasant lunch.

Many options to go back… the Village Bowl below is beautiful… views back to McLeod from the middle ridge are nice… traverse/descend left or right…

But eventually – head right – I recommended you cross the river at your previous point… and head back up to the road. Crossing above or below there will probably be longer and more tiring… after about 5-6 hours of HimachalHik’n.
