Geocache Description:

A fun multi cache featuring challenging terrain and beautiful views in a great area within the fee area at Red Rock Canyon.

Welocme to a part of Red Rock Canyon that I love to hike and climb. Pay the $5 at the front gate and hit the loop road. When you get to the first parking area at Calico... Park the car.

Many tourists stop here and look around. A few venture down onto the trails. Not enough of them make it this far into the trail system.

There are a few ways to get to this cache area. This one is preferred. Hike down the main trail from the parking area to the sign labeled Calico and Grand Circle trails. Make the left turn onto this trail system. Hike the trail for about .30 miles to this spot. N36 09.078 w 115 26.016. This is where you leave the trail and follow your GPSr to the stage one location.

As you approach you will spot the Calico Lone Tree... That is your first destination. Stage 1 is a large-ish micro (preform tube) with the co-ordinates for the final. When you get to stage 1 GZ... Cache is behind some rocks tucked into a natural cubby hole in a rock... about eye level for a guy who is 5'6" tall. If you are facing downhill, back into the chasm you just climbed, with the lone tree in front of you and to your slight left, the cache is at about 4 or 5 O'clock to you.

The reason I am providing all of this info is that I want you to find this on your first attempt and have fun. DNFs are no fun.

Once you have the co-ords for the final hike up and around to it. It is very close. It is a larger (size small) capped tube with a log sheet and room for small items. Again covered with rocks in a cubby hole in a rock wall.

To find the cache face the big rock that you could crawl under that looks like it could tip over towards you. Move into the chasm to your right. When you get in there, standing up, look over and behind your right shoulder. Eye level. There it is.

While you are here, continue up to the top for amazing views.

Thank you for hunting my cahce. Enjoy. Be safe.

This cache will require rock scrambling and hopping around like a mountain goat... but, that is the fun part. Small kids (6 ot 7 yrs and over) can make this climb. Just watch 'em.
