Baril Creek Trail - Fording Pass Viewpoint is a
regular sized square LnL type container with the usual logbook,
pencils, trade items, and an initial traveller.
If you enjoy a bike / hike on the lesser travelled trail with
pristine views, no noise, and the fragrance of plants in abundance
then this is the hike for you. The trip to the cache site involves
a roughly 17.3 km round trip with minimal elevation gain until you
stash the bikes and start up the final ridge with approximately 200
metres in elevation gain.
The views from the ridge are true 360 degree views - with the
amazing High Rock Range Peaks immediately to the west - Armstrong,
Bolton, Baril, and Courcelette; Mist et al to the north; the
Raspberry Ridge Lookout to the ESE; Beehive and Tornado to the
south; and the Cameron Lookout to the east. The ridge has numerous
wildflowers and offers some of the finest mountain viewing in the
Canadian Rockies. Come out and enjoy the adventure on a lesser
travelled trail!
