Home, Home, Where the Bison Roam Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

OReviewer: As there's been no cache to find for a long time or has had no owner response for at least 30 days, I'm archiving it to keep it from showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements.

Please note that if geocaches are archived by a reviewer or Geocaching HQ for lack of maintenance, they are not eligible for unarchival.

Geocache Description:

Near the corner of Ramseyburg Road and Koeck Road. Easy parking is in a gravel pull-off on the corner right near the cache (big enough for 2-3 cars). This should be a fairly easy and obvious cache that is placed in plain sight. The only reason the terrain is a 1.5 is because I'm not sure a wheelchair could quite make it in inclement weather (snow).

The American Bison is the continent's largest land mammal weighing upwards of well over a ton. Commonly mistakenly called the Buffalo, to which it is only distantly related, the Bison once numbered over 50-million in the 19th century until they were killed for meat, hides, sport, and to deprive the Native Americans of their natural food source. Today the Bison population numbers about 300,000-500,000 with only about 12,000-15,000 considered genetically pure bison. Most live on ranches and preserves with only a mere 15,000 Bison left naturally free-ranging.
Enough of the educational lessons! On to the cache! This cache is a Bison tube (of course!) that is placed in plain sight. Just look for the Bison, errr...Bison tube!
There is a nice herd of Bison that live in this area in the field and around the pond. On nice days they can be seen out roaming and grazing. Many people stop by here just to take photographs of them so don't forget your camera in case they are in the field where you can see them. Sometimes they come right up to the fence! Please do NOT feed them, try to pet them, yell at them, or go inside the fence! Enjoy the cache and please replace it as you found it! Happy caching!
