Geocache Description:

The posted coordinates are where you should begin your search. This is the first stage of the multi cache and there are two physical redirects and a final.

The Roseville Tract is part of the 596 hectares of forest in Durham Region. It is the second largest of the six tracts after the Main, and the West Tract does not contain trails. This forest does not provide as challenging trails as the Main Tract does although it does offer a great area for hiking, skiing, snowshoeing, and it is definitely used well by horse back riders. The forest was closed in early 2013 for selective thinning to promote sapling growth.

All stages have been placed to ensure that they are able to be found all times of the year including winter. From the posted coordinates, project a waypoint 252 m. on a bearing of 201 degrees true north. Here, you will find stage two, which is a film canister covered in camouflage tape. Inside are the coordinates for stage three.

Stage three is farther along the trail. The gun club is just south of this trail and there are many signs warning visitors to the forest that they must not cross over onto the property. If you are here on a Wednesday or a Sunday, you will definitely hear the shots. All stages of the cache are hidden within the forest boundaries. Here, you will find a small plastic container covered in camouflage tape containing the coordinates for the final. The container at stage three is hidden within a cluster of trees.

For the final, I would recommend continuing west on the trail and then taking a side trail north to the main trail that runs through the centre of the forest. From there, follow the trail west which will split twice, to the cache, using your GPS. Of course, you can bushwhack to the final; just do not cross onto the gun club's property. The final cache is a Rubbermaid container out of sight but hidden from the elements in winter. There are many items for people of all ages including kids if your kids do not mind a good hike!

Please re-hide the final container so it is hidden well. I would recommend setting aside over an hour to search for this one, especially when there is snow on the ground. Also, be aware that some areas of this forest contain lots of poison ivy. Enjoy your journey and have fun!
