Geocache Description:

Traditional on the way to or from "Kampsteiner Schwaig".

Die Sage
(english translation below)

The Legend
(deutsche Übersetzung oberhalb)
Everyone knows them, the comic super heroes. Superman, Batman, Catwoman or Supergirl, to name but a view.
But also their ancient archetypes, from the myth world, are well known, no matter, if we talk about gods, demigods, titans, or "simple" heroes like Hercules.

But there is also Wolfgang.
Who the heck is Wolfgang, whom I even dedicate a cache? And which super powers does he own?

Well, the super hero we are taking about is Holy Wolfgang, who was on a missionary journey at the end of the 10th century through the mountains, which we now call "Wechselgebiet".
The legend tells, that he hurls his axe from here to the "Feistritztal". It's not told, if the reason for this was boredom, swaggering or simply to impress the "savage mountain tribes".
Anyway, the legend tells, that the axe stuck in a tree at "Lienberg" near "Kirchberg am Wechhsel". And there a little chapel was erected, and in the 15th century upgraded to a church, today known as "Wolfgangskirche".
If the map is right, the axe was hurled a little bit more then five kilometers beeline by good old Wolfgang. And surely this makes him a super hero, like the other ones, mentioned above. And no wonder, when he supported his foot on a stone, a footprint left until today? By all means, since today also a small container is hidden near the stone, that is worth a visit.

For the first one there's a small gift inside the logbook.

Happy caching!

Can be well combined with "Magic Stones or Alice´s Adventures in Wonderland" and "Am Kampstein".
