Innerstetalbahn: Unterwegs nach Altenau Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

SigmaAlphaPi: LEIDER, LEIDER, LEIDER ...

EN: Another cache in the series of "Innerstetal-railway"-caches, which was started by tratra2.

EN: I'm sure this won't be your first of the Innerstetal-railway caches. Right? So I can shorten explanations, what this railway line was. Just a quick introduction: In the end of the 19th century the Upper Harz area was made accessible (amongst others) by this railway from Langelsheim, via Lautenthal and Wildemann to Clausthal-Zellerfeld and later also to Altenau. Since mining and other industries gradually dropped and passenger traffic could no longer cover the costs, the line was discontinued in the 1970s and the track dismantled. In the meanwhile the old track bed became a popular hiking and biking trail.

Let's get to the cache: If you walk between Clausthal-Zellerfeld and Altenau and you keep your eyes open, you can clearly see what »UP and DOWN« was straightened under the embankment's construction. And that brings me to the final. It's at the following coordinates (if all the numbers are of same size, please click here):

N 5 4°   3 4. 3 3 1

E 0 1 1°   2 0. 6 5 0

Oh, damn it, it has fallen into the baltic sea between the islands Fehmarn and Lolland. Or hasn't it? I'm sure you'll find out.

The cache's coordinates (and of course those just mentioned) are not the final's coordinates. You're looking for a film canister. Good luck and happy hunting! If you're exhausted, there's a bench at N 51° 48.570, E 010° 22.606. But it has nothing to do with the cache - perhaps.

Have Fun and Happy Hunting!
