Miljnik/Milestone Traditional Cache

ANG:
Since the time of the roman empire there is a milestone standing in the middle of Ivančna Gorica. As the name implies, these roadside markers were placed in one roman mile intervals, marking the distance from the roman wall.

In the year 1583, abbot Laurentius Rainer from the monarstery nearby ordered a renewal of the milestone. Since then, the carving on the milestone greets passers-by. Consequently, the milestone is also called Abbots sign since then.

The milestone became a symbol of Ivančna Gorica and is also the main part of the coat of arms of the municipality.
