Geocache Description:

The cache is NOT at the posted coordinates! The posted coordinates will put you in the middle of a farm field, it was from there the Rocket Boys had launched their rockets.

Among the things that the Rocket Boys love are math, science, and anagrams.  In fact, the name of this cache is an anagram of “Rocket Boys.”

And they’re at it again.  They’re firing off rockets to gather data to complete their project for this year’s Science Fair.

Unfortunately, something went wrong with the last rocket that they launched.  Just as they were setting it off, the launch stand shifted and instead of going straight up, the rocket was launched at an angle and it quickly disappeared from sight.

They were able to gather some information about the direction that the rocket went by measuring the angles of the launch stand.  They can also estimate the initial velocity of the rocket from the mass of the rocket and the amount of fuel that they used.

Based on the position of the launch stand, they estimate that the rocket was launched at an angle of 75° from horizontal at a compass bearing of 285°.  They also calculate that the rocket had an initial velocity of 250 meters/second.  And fortunately, the day that they set their rockets off was a windless day, so wind shouldn’t have been a factor in where the rocket ended up.

But so far, even though they made a great circle around the suspected landing area, their searching has been fruitless and they are asking for your help in locating their errant rocket. You can use the above information to determine the trajectory that the rocket followed.

If you think you know where their rocket landed, you can use the GeoCheck link below to verify.
