Welcome to Tunjiška Mlaka, a peaceful corner of Slovenia located in the foothills of the Tunjice Hills (Tunjiško gričevje), just west of the charming town of Kamnik in the Upper Carniola (Gorenjska) region.
This Geocache is hidden at the local bus stop, right beside a waypoint marked by colorful flowers – a seasonal splash of life that brightens the roadside in spring and summer. It’s an easy and accessible stop, yet one that offers more than meets the eye.
From this spot, you’ll be treated to open views across the Kamniška Bistrica valley, with sights stretching toward the Kamnik–Savinja Alps. On clear days, look north and northeast to catch glimpses of Grintovec, Velika Planina, and Krvavec rising in the distance. It's a beautiful juxtaposition of lowland rural life and majestic alpine terrain.
Tunjice itself is a dispersed settlement spread across the rolling hills, known for its tranquil setting and scenic surroundings. The village church, dedicated to Saint Anne, sits higher up in the hills, not far from the Tunjice Natural Healing Grove – a unique site that locals and visitors alike find fascinating. It features several so-called “energy springs”, said to promote well-being and inner balance. Whether you're a believer or just curious, the forested trails and peaceful ambiance are worth the visit – and yes, there's another Geocache hidden in that area!
Tunjiška Mlaka is not just a pass-through – it's a spot to pause, breathe, and enjoy a quiet corner of Slovenia’s countryside. Whether you're out for a longer caching adventure in the Kamnik Alps, exploring Kamnik's old town, or simply cruising the back roads, this stop offers a moment of calm and a taste of rural life.
Take a moment to soak in the views, snap a photo, or simply enjoy the slower pace of Tunjiška Mlaka.
