Geocache Description:

This cache site is busy during the summer season. Its a perfect stopping place to enjoy a deep river canyon, watch the recreationalists, snap a pic, and get your toes wet.

**Releasing this cache in time for Maupin's Signature Event: RiverFest on the Deschutes.**

To reach this cache site, you'll need to follow the map to Maupin, and take the Deschutes Access Road North to the Class 4 notorious Oak Springs rapid (about 1/4 mile North of the BLM Day Use area marked Oak Springs). Park along the road in one of the the many pull-outs along this 1/2 mile stretch of river. Closest to the cache site along the road, you can park and walk down a small wooden stairway to the river.

From the roadway, opposite the riverside of the road, look for a tree growing right out of the basalt rock canyon wall. Its the only tree at picking level (this means it is not at the river level and is located on the road) You'll find the cache hanging like an apple and ready to be logged.
