Geocache Description:

This is a time to learn more about Geocaching and demystify the technology we use.  Today's event focuses on two topics:
- the mobile devices everyone uses to find their way around when going caching (whether a dedicated GPS receiver or a smartphone)
- how to find a Wherigo cache.

The provisional program is as follows:

13:00 Welcome, settle in and get online.

13:15 - 14:15 Theoretical discussion on how a Wherigo works. Graham (ThomasfamilyZA) and Brendan (BrendsZA) will share their experience of building the cartridge for the caches Bezuidenhout Park Adventure Story (GC326H6) and Fairytales and Fables(GC3M703). This session will deal briefly with the software used (Urwigo available from http://www.wherigo.cz/urwigo/#en ), the logic about a Wherigo, and some of the lessons learned around compatibility across different devices.

14:15 - 14:30 Refreshments will be served.

14:30 - 15:30 Practical example of playing a Wherigo, we will give everyone a chance to play a short Wherigo that was originally built at GC3KEQY 2012 Techno Event 3 and ensure that everyone understands how they work and the software required to play them on the various devices. They will show you some of the logic from the actual cartridge.

15:30 - 16:00 More refreshments, smoke break and munchies.

16:00 - 16:30 Graham will talk about caching with a dedicated GPS, and the various apps available in the iStore for geocaching

16:30 - 17:00 Anton from Damhuisclan will talk about caching with an Android phone using NeonGeo.

17:00 till whenever... Braai, socialising, swapping coins, discovering new coins while having a great time enjoying yourselves to the full. Please bring along whatever you want to eat and drink and enjoy meeting everybody else.
