About SideTracked Caches

This cache belongs to the SideTracked series. It is not designed to take you to a magical place with a breath taking view. It's a distraction for the weary traveller, but anyone else can go and find it too. More Information can be found at the SideTracked Website

About Great Shefford Station

The station was originally named West Shefford and opened to passengers on 1st April 1898. In November 1900 it was re-named Great Shefford. By 1910 Great Shefford was said to be the busiest of the intermediate stations on the railway that linked the isolated Berkshire village of Lambourn to Newbury. The station handled a wide range of agricultural freight as well as racehorses using a horse loading dock that was constructed by GWR in 1910. The station eventually closed to passengers on 4th January 1960 and has since been demolished. No evidence of the station remains as four houses have been built on the former site.
The published coordinates take you to the village hall where there is plenty of parking. The actual station stood to the north and the only reminder is the name of the road.
At the published coordinates you will need to find the date in the wall above the map. Call this ABCD. The cache is hidden at:
