Fairfield Find Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Hanoosh: As this cache is in serious need of maintenance, the log is too wet to sign and it is evident the CO is no longer caching, I am archiving this cache.

Geocache Description:

This is the first cache we have placed and is in a quiet street. Please note that whilst the area is fairly quiet extra care should be taken to avoid being spotted by muggles, the easiest ploy is to stop and rest on the way up this very steep hill.

There is plenty of parking and on a pavement so is very accessible. Container is hidden out of view and about the size of a jam jar, but is hidden by something that is out of place. Cache placed with the kind permission of the Resident at No. 16a

From the cache you can see the lovely Little Solsbury Hill (more commonly known as Solsbury Hill. The hill was the inspiration of the Peter Gabriel song Solsbury Hill which was recorded in 1977

It is located above the village of Batheaston in Somerset, England. The hill rises to 625 feet (191 m) above the River Avon, which is just over 1 mile (2 km) to the south, and gives views of the city of Bath and the surrounding area. It is within the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

The hill is one of several possible locations of the Battle of Badon and shows the remains of a medieval field system. In the 19th century part of the hill was quarried. It was acquired by the National Trust in 1930. A small turf maze was cut into the turf by protesters during the widening of the A46 in 1994.
