This cache has been archived.

While I feel that Geocaching.com should hold the location for the cache owner and block other cachers from placing a cache in the area around this cache for a reasonable amount of time, we can’t do so forever. Due to lack of response from the owner, this cache listing is now archived, so that someone else can place a cache in the area, and geocachers can once again enjoy visiting this location.

If it hasn’t been done already, please pick up any remaining cache bits as soon as possible. If the owner wants it reopened, send me an e-mail and I’ll be happy to unarchive the cache listing if it still satisfies the requirement/guidelines.

Geocache Description:

This fortress is a must see if you're in the neighbourhood.

During the "Hannibal war" (1643 - 1645) the community of Halden was garnisoned and from 1644 was fortified with wooden stockades and provisional defence works also on the ridges where the fortress was to be built.
Fredriksten fortress replaced Båhus fortress, which was lost to Sweden in the peace treaty of 1658. In 1658, 59 and 60 Halden was attacked by Swedish forces.

More information can be found in Norwegian here

Initial exchangeable content in restored micro:
- 1 Euro coin
.... and my signature items;
- Extra chewing gum
- A golf peg
