WWFM Britain's 11th Most Remote Event -Dunnet Head Event Cache

This cache has been archived.

Simply Paul: Since everyone who attended this meet has logged it, and all travel-items have been booked out, it's time to archive it.

My thanks again to all who came along and gave me a memorable event at this dramatic location. I hope you all had as much fun as me, if not more. Until next time...

Geocache Description:

As it enters its second decade, the Remote series of cache events takes a gentle turn. For once it isn't on a far-flung island, and there's even parking near by. I'm clearly getting soft in my old age. That said, it's still a long way from most places, and at a spectacular location. I hope you're able to join me for yet another SP adventure!

UPDATE! To turn this meet into a WWFM XIV event, please note the time has been updated from 12.30-1pm to 6-6.30pm.

Where: Northern tip of Dunnet Head.
When: Saturday June 10th 2017, from 6pm til 6.30pm.
Why: Because I enjoyed Dunnet Head when I visited in 2009 while sleep deprived and I wanted to come back and get the local earthcache which has popped up since. This event also happens to be on World Wide Flash Mob day, so has been rebranded to match.
Who: Cachers who like to go to extremes! It's not an easy spot to reach, but it is a rewarding one. New to caching or cache meets? You'll be made especially welcome.
What: A gathering above the crashing waves (please keep children and animals under close control) to chat Geocaching chat, swap travel items and, I suggest, eat an evening picnic. In case of poor weather, we'll take shelter at the short tower (not the lighthouse) close by. Please bring a comedy hat with you, for the Flash Mob.

This is the 11th in a series of Remote events. The others being:
10. 2016 on White Island, St Martin's (IoS most northerly)
9. 2015 on Mull (atop only island Munro not on Skye),
8. 2014 on Jersey (tidal island),
7. 2013 on Skye (a non-event at the InPinn),
6. 2012 on Bryher (IoS/England's most westerly),
5. 2011 on Eigg, Small Isles (An Sgurr, Eigg's highest point),
4. 2010 south of Jersey (tidal island, Britain's most southerly-ish),
3. 2009 on Unst, Shetlands (overlooking Muckle Flugga. UK's most northerly),
2. 2008 on St Agnes (IoS/England/UK's most southerly) and
1. 2007 on St Kilda in the outer, outer Hebrides (UK's most westerly).

This event also concludes my trip around the British mainland coast's extreme points, which has included:
2015 Scotland's Most Southerly Event
2013 Meet at the End (Mainland Britain's most Westerly)
2017 Wester is Bester - Skye (Mainland Britain's other most Westerly?) - The weekend after this meet.
2012 SP's Final Extreme? (Lizard Point, Cornwall)
2011 Eastly Does It! (Lowestoft)

Join the World Wide Flash Mob! Around the world, at the exact same time, groups of geocachers will assemble suddenly in a public place, do something odd - comedy hats here please - and then vanish back into the crowds (none expected here)

Other 'SP on Tour' events for June 2017 (maybe I'm not getting so soft in my old age?):
June 5th Make it Snappy (Great Cumbrae)
June 7th Morar is Less (easy to reach: Remote Oban Bothy!) - not near Oban
June 8th X Marks the SPoT for a Cache Meet (General Election Day!)
June 10th WWFM Britain's 11th Most Remote Event- Dunnet Head - HERE!
June 13th Britain's Shortest River Beach Party! (Morar)
June 15th I Claim Rùm for the People of Freedonia!
June 16th Keep Away..! (Portree, Skye)
June 17th Wester is Bester - Skye.
June 19th England's Most Northerly Cache Meet!

There's a Groundspeak Forum Thread about this and my other June 2017 events. I'll also add a bookmark list of targets, as I've a nice trail of meets to attend, as well as caches to find...
