SS Rex je bila italijanska potniška ladja, ki je leta 1944 potonila v koprskem zalivu.
Ladja je med drugo svetovno vojno služila za prevoze ranjencev. Proti koncu vojne so se Nemci odločili, da ji bodo poiskali boljše skrivališče. S petimi vlačilci so tako ladjo 5. septembra 1944 privlekli v koprski zaliv med Žusterno in Izolo. Ker je bilo na tem mestu morje plitvo, je ladja približno 200 metrov od obale nasedla. Tam je prazna in brez posadke čakala nadaljnjih dogodkov. 8. septembra 1944, ob 11. uri dopoldan, so letala Beaufighter angleškega vojnega letalstva pričela raketirati ladjo. Kmalu je Rex začel goreti ter se prevrnil na levi bok. Gorel je štiri dni, potem pa je potonil. Po vojni so ladjo leta 1947 pričeli rezati za staro železo. Operacija je trajala več let. Danes so na dnu še vidni ostanki, vendar zelo skromni.

Obalna cesta, ki je nekoč povezovala Koper in Izolo je danes zaprta za promet in namenjena kolesarjem in sprehajalcem. Po njej se lahko sprehodite vse od izolskega kampa, pa skoraj do Moleta pred Žusterno. Ob poti poiščite zaklad, vendar bodite diskretni, saj je frekvenca bunkeljnov na tem mestu zelo visoka.

SS Rex was an Italian passenger ship which sank in 1944 in the Bay of Koper.
The ship served to transport the wounded during WWII. Towards the end of the war, the Germans decided to find it a better hiding place. On September 5th 1944 they dragged it to the gulf of Koper between Zusterna in Izola. The sea is shallow at this point and the ship ran aground about 200 meters from the coast. Empty of unmanned it waited there for further developments. On September 8th 1944, at 11 am in the morning, the Beaufighter aircraft of the English Air Force began striking the ship. Soon, Rex began to burn and overturned on the left side. After four days of burning it has sunk. In 1947 the cutting of the ship for iron began. The operation lasted several years. Today, the remains are still visible at the bottom though very modest.

Coastal road that once connected the Koper and Izola is closed for traffic today and the intended for cyclists and walkers. You can take a walk all the way from Izola camp almost to Molet before Zusterna. Find the Rex's treasure along the way, but be discreet, since the muggle frequency at this point is very high.
