A Peek of Mt. Whitney's Peak

Found on the west end of the Alabama Hills and at the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains sits a location to explore. There are two ways in and both are about equal distance. There is a blockage near GZ on Hogback Road from Whitney Portal Road so you would not be able to drive through. There is a water crossing from this side. You can drive through but pending the time of year this could be a challenge for low clearance vehicles. Not to worry, there is a pedestrian bridge if you decide not to cross with your Honda Civic. Should you decide to cross the creek, a 4x4 is highly recommended. I suggest you trek in the short distance to GZ. Mother nature is reclaiming this road past the creek.
The hide is not difficult of a find and is in low elevation that could be accessible year round. With global warming this cache may be clear of snow unless for a freakish winter storm blows through which seems to happen every 4-5 years. Please hide the cache better than when found. I don't expecting this cache to have many opportunities to get muggled. Take your time, soak in the views and enjoy the area. We sure did!
