This is the first of a series of caches highlighting the Baltimore County Public Library system. The original Towson branch was the first library to open in Baltimore County.
The first Towson library began lending books on May 1, 1936 and was located in the Odd Fellow's Hall. The current Towson branch was constructed in 1974 on a plot of land that was once the childhood home of Mary Osborne Odell, the very first Towson librarian.
The Towson branch features the Kids Kingdom, a fairy tale-themed children's area that comes complete with dragons and a castle.
The Towson branch is one of three branches designated a Passport Acceptance Facility by the U.S. Department of State.
The Towson branch holds the largest collection of materials in the BCPL system.
The Friends of the Towson library is one of the largest and longest standing groups of Friends in the Baltimore County Public Library system. They host an annual book sale every spring to raise money and awareness for BCPL in general and Towson branch, specifically.
The cache is hidden near the mosaic. This can be a high muggle area, especially on a nice day. You do NOT need to go off the walkway.
