The Conti-Vecchi saltworks village
The origins of this village date back to the early 30s of the XX century.
Just like the villages built near the Sulcis and Sarrabus mines, it was used to house the workers, technicians and managers of the saltworks, as well as their families.
Here there was the elementary school, the guesthouse / mess for the employed travelers, the post office, the church.
Even the workers' apartments were equipped with toilets, which was not taken for granted in those days.
Some buildings remain of this village, including the house of the Conti-Vecchi family (the progenitor Luigi sensed the potential of the site, transforming an area where malaria ruled in an industrial reality, still productive), and other buildings.
