The History of the Haunt in Halmich Event
The prelude to the Haunt in Halmich event were the Early Halloween Geo Bash events. Hosted by the Son of Cyclops and his family in 2006, 2007, and 2008 in late September, these events included a potluck, various Halloween-themed games and contests, and a raffle. These three events would be successful, as there were 144 event attendees over the three events.
In 2012, BSW2010 would put a spin on this Halloween event and hosted the original Haunt in Halmich event. The spooky theme was based off of various stories and myths that Halmich Park is haunted; this didn't stop any geocachers from attending, as there were 22 event attendees that year. The original event had 11 new caches released by BSW and Team-Gates with donuts and cider at the final cache for the night. 105 event attendees put their name on the event logs for the 2013, 2014, and 2015 events with 35 Halloween-related event caches hidden by BSW, Team-Gates, and my son Bobo102102 over the three years. In 2016, Bobo stepped up and hosted the fifth event due to BSW having other commitments; 12 event caches were released for 41 event attendees.
In 2017, the event faced uncertainty as the three original contributors all didn't have the time to plan and host the event; however, with many people wanting the event to continue, I took over hosting duties (with Bobo still helping out behind the scenes, of course). I would end up host the 2018, 2019, and 2020 events, where 117 event attendees had the chance to claim FTF honors on 49 event caches. Now that the tenth Haunt in Halmich is upon us, we decided that we should make this a special celebration for the past, present, and future of Haunt in Halmich events!

Halmich Park, 3001 E. 13 Mile Road, Warren, MI 48092
6:30PM - 7:30PM
Come join other cachers as we enjoy donuts and cold cider in fall-ish weather for the tenth! consecutive year. There will be caches that will be released in conjunction with the event - attendees have the opportunity to search for these caches after the event and claim FTFs on all of these caches, but attendees are not required to search for these caches. All cachers who choose to find these caches on the night of the event are able to claim FTF status on all caches.
