About SideTracked
This cache belongs to the SideTracked series. It is not designed to take you to a magical place with a breath taking view. It's simply a cache-and-dash distraction for the weary public transport user, which can be found at or near train stations, former train stations, and miniature railroads. There are currently over 4,500 SideTracked caches in more than 30 countries around the world. More information can be found on the SideTracked series website.
This cache was placed in conjunction with the SideTracked 15th anniversary celebration week.
About This Station
The depot was built in 1927 by the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway in the Spanish Colonial Revival style, and it was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982. The station was renovated at a cost of $2.8 million and reopened for Metrolink use on December 7, 1992. On November 20, 2016, the interior of the depot was converted into the new home of the Claremont Museum of Art.
In 2017, the Metro Board directed staff to conduct a study of the Claremont Metrolink station and determine the impacts of removing the station. After a show of support by local residents, businesses, and the Claremont Colleges, Metro voted to keep the station open.
About This Cache
The cache is just off Metrolink property, per SideTracked guidelines. You shouldn't have any trouble grabbing it if you have 5-10 minutes to spare before your train arrives.
