The tor in Glastonbury has captured the imagination and mythos of countless peoples for centuries. Celts named it Ynys-Witrin, or the Island of Glass, doubtless due to the surrounding land flooding frequently. Others have seen it as the entrance to the land of the dead also known as Avalon. Many have come and gone as evidenced by the ruins and artifacts left behind.
While a brave heart will see you through the dangers of the surrounding Forest Perilous, deciphering a riddle in the ruins will require a sharp mind. The following etchings seem to date back to Roman occupation and may originate from one of the five poets turned to stone. They decipher:
"The degree and minutes to which you will go are the same as where you stand. Partial minutes are thus:
^ CLXXIV < DC
To each digit add north the number of wells and west rooms of the spring house."
Remains of the spring house lay in wait at the location provided. Should you choose to pursue this quest, take care and luck be with you.
