About SideTracked
This cache belongs to the SideTracked series. It is not designed to take you to a magical place with a breathtaking view. It's simply a cache-and-dash distraction for the weary public transport user, which can be found at or near train stations, former train stations, and miniature railroads. There are currently over 4,500 SideTracked caches in more than 30 countries around the world. More information can be found on the SideTracked series website.
This cache was placed in honor of the SideTracked series' 16th anniversary on Aug 10, 2023.
About This Station
The Arcadia station is part of the A Line of the LA Metro Rail System from Pasadena to Azusa. An extension to Pomona is expected to be completed in 2025, with further extension to Montclair by 2028. Passenger service to Arcadia began on March 5, 2016.
The station is located on the northwest corner of North First Avenue and East Santa Clara Street, a short block away from the city’s main commercial area on Huntington Drive and adjacent to the city’s transit plaza. The station has a center platform with tracks on either side. Access is from the southeast end of the platforms via the corner of North First Avenue and East Santa Clara Street.
Station artwork was designed by Michael Davis. Stone and metal benches carry an etched design motif related to the historic Santa Anita Race Track, which is also the inspiration for the perforated stainless steel panels which flank the station entry ramp. The graphic outline of a horse race is articulated in the form of a club suit pattern. A large colorful design inspired by the eye of a peacock feather honors the city bird. The glass canopy becomes a radiant beacon at night. The L.A. County Arboretum is referenced in a 22-foot-tall weathervane sculpture, Arcadian Zephyr, that addresses natural phenomenon (light and wind).
